Breaking News: Michael Vick Agrees to Sign With Philadelphia Eagles

Tony SantorsaAug 13, 2009

Three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick has agreed to a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

News of this report has leaked from CBS Sports and Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com. According to those sources, Vick's agent has stated that Vick has agreed to a deal.

Details of the deal are to a minimum, but from the reports already released, from my understanding, Vick has agreed to a two-year contract.

This very well could be the Eagles missing piece to winning the NFC East title. Philadeplhia's head coach and offensive guru, Andy Reid, will use Vick to his advantage. Reid will use all of Vick's talent and attributes not only at the quarterback position, but he will be seen as a receiver and as a running back.

Vick is a solid back-up to the constantly injured Donovan McNabb. Both quarterbacks are very mobile and can throw on the run, so if McNabb does go down, the rhythm of the offense wouldn't change too much.

Myself, being a New England Patriots fan, is very disappointed to see Vick not sporting the No. 7 in New England. I feel that Vick is talent that is too much to pass up. I feel that New England's head coach Bill Belichick would have used Vick in the Wildcat Formation, a little bit on special teams and potentially as a defensive back.

Adding Vick to Philadelphia should be interesting in the weeks to come. He is such a talented player, but this will bring a lot of media attention and questions to the Eagles locker room.

Vick is sloted to appear on 60 Minitues this Sunday, and I'm sure he will have a lot of explaining to do on the nationally televised show.
