Breaking News: Michael Vick Signs Two-Year Deal With Eagles

Shady BotrosAug 13, 2009

Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Michael Vick has signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The news was just reported by Mortensen about 10 minutes ago.

Vick has been out of the league for about two years now due to the dog fighting charges. Vick has been serving time in jail.

While Vick has been out of the league, he is only a few years removed from being the highest paid player in the league, and the former No. 1 pick in the 2001 draft.

Vick’s suspension has been conditionally lifted by Commissioner Roger Goodel.

Of all the teams, the Eagles were not one of the teams who showed any interest. However, everybody deserves a second chance and Vick has shown remorse.

I also wonder how quarterback Donovan McNabb will react after the benching.

Does he worry about his job security? Does he want to share reps with Vick? How would you feel if you were in Vick’s situation?

This probably shuts the door on Kevin Kolb, who was the acclaimed the quarterback of the future, and will also be a distraction in camp which really isn’t the style of the Eagles organization.

Football wise I don’t know what to expect.  He probably doesn’t have the laser arm, or the 4.3 speed anymore.  Will he play out of the wildcat or as a quarterback, and will he start?

As for the national reaction, how do you feel about this signing?

Does this make the Eagles the laughing stock of the NFL?

How do you feel as an Eagles Fan?

How big of a distraction will this be?

Just a few questions to think about.
