WWE Fastlane 2015: Most Underappreciated Storylines to Follow

Aaron BowerFeb 9, 2015

With the WWE clearly in the need to ramp up anticipation and hype ahead of WrestleMania 31, the debuting Fastlane pay-per-view needs to offer plenty of value for fans.

To ensure sales for WrestleMania 31 are up—as well as making sure that there is a solid card all the way down, from the main event right through to the pre-show—it's vital that Fastlane does a good job of whetting the appetite.

And even though Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan is bound to grab most of the headlines—perhaps mostly due to the enormity of the prize for the victor—there are some other storylines going on elsewhere that fans would be wise to keep an eye on.

The Divas division often becomes a secondary thought these days, and after the way the whole division has been booked over the last six months or so, that's perhaps no surprise.

However, following a strong breakthrough onto the main roster little under a year ago, Paige is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence once again.

Her peculiar relationship with AJ Lee—whilst a novel and unique swerve at first—didn't really cut it, and Paige is certainly much more talented that playing a side role to another Diva.

Her becoming a babyface again and squaring off against Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship will be an interesting match to keep an eye on. It looks like it will be the feud the WWE decides to run with right up to WrestleMania 31, which means that Paige is going to be in the spotlight once again.

She definitely has a different appeal and feel to most of the other female competitiors on the roster, and there's no doubting her undisputed talent.

In addition to Paige enjoying a return to the spotlight, there's also the continuing development of the WWE's hottest new tag team.

The similarities between Cesaro and Paige's last 12 months are frightening when you think about it. Just as Paige shocked the world to dethrone AJ Lee the night after WrestleMania 30, Cesaro was arguably at the pinnacle of his career that day.

After winning the first Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal last year, Cesaro was tipped for big, big things. That hasn't exactly come to fruition after a disappointing slide back down the card. But in Tyson Kidd, he has found a tag partner who gives him his edge back again.

It's likely that Cesaro and Kidd will lock horns with The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championships at Fastlane, and a win for the duo seems inevitable.

They have a great chemistry in the ring. Cesaro has the brute strength and the extreme ability, while Kidd also has stacks of talent matched with a unique style inside the ring. All in all, that makes for a tag team with plenty of appeal.

Finally, whilst it may not be the most underappreciated storyline of the lot, there's also a return to our screens for the iconic Sting.

Given how he's rarely on TV—he's only made one further appearance since debuting at Survivor Series—the storyline surrounding Sting vs. Triple H is yet to get going.

Sure, Triple H has made the odd passing reference about the former WCW legend, but there's been little in the way of storyline development, which has led to it slipping to the back of our minds somewhat.

But at Fastlane, Sting is booked to appear, and that means fireworks, you would imagine.
