Page Undergoes Throat Surgery
Saturday, Feb. 7
Former WWE and WCW superstar Diamond Dallas Page is recovering in a Georgia hospital after undergoing surgery to repair a problem with his throat.
According to a post from Page on Facebook, things started to get bad as he was visiting an ear, nose and throat doctor:
"Hears something you don't see... Ever... (that's not what I wanna hear... that will get your mind going) he's says... This is really bad... REALLY BAD... there is virtually no space between your vocal cords... they're almost stuck together (that's not how he said but it was something like that) he said...
"
Page continued by noting that as the doctor's exam continued, he was unable to breathe and they had to call 9-1-1 before eventually clearing out his vocal chords that allowed him to breathe normally again.
The 58-year-old Page appeared on WWE television at the Royal Rumble in January. He was a surprise entrant in the main event, providing some of the nostalgia that usually comes along with the pay-per-view before being eliminated by Rusev.
In the time since retiring from wrestling, Page has made a name for himself as a yoga teacher that has also been the inspiration behind books and workout videos. He made his name in WCW during the 1990s boom, winning the world heavyweight title in 1999.
Page's WWE tenure was brief, running from 2001-02 after WCW was acquired by Vince McMahon. He never became the star in WWE he was in the past, but still remains a popular figure and has created a business for himself away from the sport.
