Manchester United Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Return Urged by James Wilson

Gianni VerschuerenFeb 6, 2015

Manchester United youngster James Wilson has named Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo the one player he would love to share a pitch with, praising his incredible work ethic and fantasising about how much he could have learned from the Ballon d'Or winner.

As reported by the Daily Star's Rhys Turrell, the young forward would love to pick his brain both before and after matches:

"

I would love to have played with him [Ronaldo] because of how hard he works, not just on the pitch but also off the pitch.

He has worked really hard in the gym to get where he is now, so I would love to see his mentality going into games and then after games.

The 19-year-old is widely regarded as the top attacking talent to emerge from United's vaunted youth academy in years, underlining his incredible potential with two goals on his debut against Hull City last season.

Manager Louis van Gaal has taken a patient approach with the teenager in 2014-15, gradually handing him minutes as the season progresses. According to WhoScored.com, he's started two Premier League matches so far and made nine appearances as a substitute, scoring once.

Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe is a big fan of the youngster, going as far as to suggest he could be the reason Radamel Falcao's current loan deal does not result in a permanent transfer:

Wilson is undoubtedly hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ronaldo, who established himself as one of the world's best players at Old Trafford before moving to the Bernabeu.

The star winger has recently been linked with a return to the Red Devils, with agent Jorge Mendes recently claiming a £300 million price tag while dismissing rumours he could leave the Spanish capital, per Telegraph Football:

There's little doubt Wilson could learn much from the 30-year-old star, who will likely go down as one of the best to ever play the game. A uniquely gifted athlete, Ronaldo's success can be attributed partly to his ever-lasting hunger for more trophies and his willingness to continue working on his craft.

As you can tell by this image, there's little doubt Ronaldo still spends a huge amount of time in the gym, even at the age of 30:

A return to the Premier League seems highly unlikely, however. The Portugal international is one of the world's most popular players, and his value to Real Madrid goes well beyond what he does on the pitch.

Shirt sales, commercials and the likes are a big part of the modern game, particularly with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations influencing how much money a club can spend.

Ronaldo brings in plenty of cash for Los Blancos, but he's also highly productive on the pitch. He has scored 28 goals in La Liga this season—more than all but six of the clubs in Spain's top division, per WhoScored.

Real would be foolish to sell their biggest star—unless Ronaldo comes out and openly requests a move back to Manchester, Wilson's boyhood dream will likely remain a fantasy.
