Gay Battles Foot Injury

Sunday, Feb. 8

Sacramento Kings small forward Rudy Gay is dealing with a foot injury and will miss the team's game Sunday night against the Phoenix Suns.

James Ham of ESPN.com reported the news, specifying that Gay has a "sore left foot."

Gay previously dealt with relatively minor Achilles tendinitis and knee issues. Neither of those injuries forced him to miss an extended period of time, though. Sacramento hopes the same will hold true after it receives further information about his latest ailment.

Even though the Kings have struggled to stay competitive in the tougher Western Conference, the veteran forward has been one of the bright spots. He's putting together perhaps his most complete season to date, forming a terrific one-two punch with center DeMarcus Cousins.

While the injury seemed minor, it is understandable why the Kings would want to exercise caution, due to the portion of the season the team is in.
