It looks like Richard Sherman's taunting of the New England Patriots has backfired. Now, the Patriots are just having fun with it.
Sherman was seen saying something and gesturing about "24" after the Seattle Seahawks took a 24-14 lead over the Patriots in the third quarter of Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday. It looked like Seattle had control of the game at that point, so Sherman felt comfortable enough to start taunting.
That turned out to be a big mistake.
New England rallied for a 28-24 victory, capturing its fourth Super Bowl title since 2001. "Four" is key.
That's Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, who caught the game-winning touchdown, holding a sign of a Sherman meme during the team's victory parade. That has to sting the Seahawks cornerback a bit.
