College Football Recruiting 2015: Top Remaining Recruits' Announcement Schedule

Matt FitzgeraldFeb 4, 2015

Wednesday marks national signing day, when many of the top prospects in the 2015 recruiting pool will announce their decisions on where they'll play college football.

Many high-profile recruits will make their choices known live on ESPNU, a grand stage for these young men with bright futures to make such a huge commitment.

The pressure is on for the schools that want them, too, because national signing day can make or break the top of an NCAA program's recruiting class. That only magnifies the focus for what will be an 11-hour television event with a series of watershed moments for a lot of college football teams.

2015 National Signing Day Analysis

One outlier exists in the table of marquee recruits. That would be 4-star receiver Cordell Broadus, who happens to be the son of rap legend Snoop Dogg.

Broadus may not be as highly ranked by 247Sports, but he's had numerous offers from top-tier programs and can't really lose in deciding between UCLA, USC and Arizona State.

Zac Ellis of SI.com spoke to the 17-year-old ahead of national signing day, and Broadus spoke about the unique recruiting process and how his father has played into it:

"

It's been hectic at times. I'm still trying my hardest to break out of that shadow and earn a name for myself. ... He can be a fan of any school. That's nice, but at the end of the day, I'm the one who has to go through the workouts. I have to do the homework. All that is on me, so it's my decision and it's my life.

"

The 6'2", 195-pound wideout out of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas has excellent ball skills, is a polished route-runner and has a physical quality to his game. With a bit of added weight and perhaps a twinge of added speed, Broadus can make a big impact at the college level.

Now to shift the focus to the true cream of the crop in 2015.

Derek Tyson of ESPN has his musings about where some of the best-reviewed players will go:

Although offensive tackle Martez Ivey still has room to improve in pass protection, his tenacity as a run-blocker and tremendous athleticism are a combination that could see him start right away.

MaxPreps' footage is a testament to Ivey's rare skill set:

CeCe Jefferson and Byron Cowart are the premier defensive ends and have immense upside as pass-rushers. They could both be deployed on a situational basis as true freshmen and emerge as legitimate superstars from this 2015 class.

The following tape on Jefferson provides an idea of what he brings to the gridiron:

A trio of defensive tackles should wreak havoc sooner rather than later, too.

Daylon Mack has stunning explosiveness for someone listed at 330 pounds while 247Sports lists Rasheem Green as running a 4.8-second 40-yard dash at 6'5", 275 pounds.

The 2014 stats listed on Terry Beckner Jr.'s 247Sports profile indicate that he made 117 tackles this last season and 118 the year before. That type of production from a defensive tackle prospect is anomalous—and in the best way for whichever program gets to welcome him in.

Pete Scantlebury of Rivals.com offered some insight to encourage the Missouri Tigers fanbase:

As for the skill positions, 5-star running back Soso Jamabo sports a mature frame and is the type of powerful runner that can handle the jump in competition better than most.

Rivals.com's Alex Dunlap reports that one recent Texas recruit hopes to convince Jamabo and Mack to join him in Austin as the Longhorns try to get back on track under coach Charlie Strong:

Wide receiver Damarkus Lodge is similar to Broadus but a bit better overall in terms of size, raw talent and overall potential. Lodge racked up a whopping 47 receiving touchdowns in the past two years at Cedar Hill in Texas.

With how heavily reliant an increasing number of college teams are on spread offenses, cornerback becomes as vital of a position as ever. Iman Marshall is the consensus No. 1 player in that spot, so his announcement will be met with as much hype as any.

Marshall teamed with Bleacher Report for quite an entertaining teaser of what's to come for his national signing day:

The trailer above just goes to show how much hoopla goes into national signing day. These top prospects who face the entire nation to choose their paths for this next phase of their football careers will be under the microscope from the first time they set foot on campus.

Expectations will be high, as most of the consensus 5-star studs will be tabbed to be big contributors and perhaps even start from the jump.

The luxury of landing multiple blue-chip stars is that they can grow together. However, the players have to weigh going to a powerhouse and possibly waiting years to play or going to more of an up-and-coming outfit and enhancing their chances to see the field sooner.

A myriad of complex factors weigh heavily into a life-changing few seconds. With the amount of star power primed to declare on Wednesday, this 2015 national signing day figures to be as intense and captivating as any one before it.
