National Signing Day 2015: Latest Rumors and Projections for Best Recruits

Steven CookFeb 3, 2015

With the eve of national signing day upon us, powerhouse programs and feverish fanbases are only a day away from finding out how their 2015 classes will shake out.

As tends to be the case around this time of year, a number of schools have already all but wrapped up star-studded classes that don't need anything Wednesday to validate them. But for others, a handful of important announcements on signing day will either make or break an entire recruiting class.

Such is the situation yet again in 2015, so let's get right to it and take a look at some of the best recruits yet to make their announcements.

Martez Ivey, OL

The nation's top offensive tackle has two fanbases holding their collective breaths entering Wednesday's announcement.

Standout 5-star tackle Martez Ivey is down to picking between Florida and Auburn as his 11 a.m. ET announcement Wednesday (ESPNU) draws near. But a backup plan from one of those schools seems to indicate he's leaning the other way.

Andrew Spivey of Gator Country reported back on Jan. 25 that he was "50-50" between the two schools. But with Auburn targeting offensive tackle Mike Horton on the final weekend, as per AL.com's Wesley Sinor, the Tigers look to be on the outside looking in.

Ivey's athletic skill set would fit in well with Auburn's high-powered spread offense, but he wouldn't have the same opportunity to build something from the ground up. In Florida, he can be the blue-chip recruit of Jim McElwain's first class and end up being the turning point to their offensive woes.

Prediction: Ivey signs with Florida

CeCe Jefferson, DE

Speaking of blue-chip recruits, let's move on to CeCe Jefferson.

The Glen St. Mary, Florida, native comes in as the seventh-best player in the class and the second-ranked strong-side defensive end. It's no surprise that he has the SEC's best hot on his tail, with it coming down to Auburn, Alabama, Florida and Ole Miss.

He already has his mind made up but is keeping it close to the vest, as per ESPN SEC:

Jefferson would immediately be the bell cow of the Florida defense and would join a unit that didn't exactly struggle in 2014 despite a lowly season as a program. But if he's looking to join a star-studded defense that he can find an immediate home at, he should look no further than Ole Miss.

The Rebels already have dominant edge-rushers in Robert Nkemdiche and Denzel Nkemdiche, which would leave Jefferson facing more one-on-one matchups than he'd see anywhere else. He may welcome the opportunity for a more important position off the bat elsewhere but would fit perfectly at Ole Miss if he wants to transition at his pace into the world of college football.

Prediction: Jefferson signs with Ole Miss

Soso Jamabo, RB

Soso Jamabo made headlines by targeting University of Phoenix and ITT Tech as his two schools of choice, but it's safe to say top-notch programs are keeping the door open for Jamabo.

The 5-star recruit enters signing day as the nation's No. 2 overall running back, and as such, he will have his pick of top programs. But heading into the final day, it's looking to be down to Texas and UCLA.

Rumors have already swirled that Texas is out of the running, with 247Sports' Bobby Burton reporting Jamabo "appears headed to UCLA" and has eliminated Texas. But Jamabo himself took to Twitter to refute such rumors:

Jamabo is right to shoot down the reports on the eve of a life-changing announcement. But at this point in the process, where there's smoke, there tends to be fire.

The Longhorns look poised to lock up a couple of Texas natives on signing day, but Jamabo won't be one of them as he makes a late pledge to Jim Mora.

Prediction: Jamabo signs with UCLA
