10 Free Fantasy Football Quick Reads

Lee JohnsonAug 10, 2009

Happy Monday!  Did you get in on some football yesterday?  As tough as it is to watch those preseason games it is still nice to get a good look and feel again.  Kudos to the Titans on the classic Oilers uniforms.  So, before the boss comes around the corner let’s get to some fantasy football quick reads!

Each week I consume football podcasts as much as I do music (If not more at this time) on my iPod.  The other day I told you about a few to check out.  I was just over browsing at our friend’s site, The Fantasy Football Goat, and noticed that he has a few more for you.  Check them out and sign up for his newsletter.  While you are synching your MP3 player with some new podcasts, check out Corey’s music podcast at MusicGoat too.

You can also use Podcasts to your advantage to get the insight of diehard fans who are not afraid to be critical of their team.  For example, check out The Packer Show to get some views on the Packers from the people that pay the most attention to the Packers.

Sleepers from RazzBall. Bernard Scott has been getting a lot of push in the last week.  I guess that would make him not so sleeper-ish but you have to mention him, right?

Some Individual Defensive Player (IDP) sleepers from ESPN.  Have to agree on the rookie James Laurinatis in St. Louis.  He should tear it up from the start.

Drafting a Tight End can be touchy.  You don’t want to go too soon and will miss out waiting too long.  Many people still say they are not too worried about the position.  Myself…I want my TE to score more points than my opponents TE.  Dave Richard at CBS Sports looks into the timing of drafting TE’s and breaks them into tiers.

Pro Football Weekly points to the signs that the fantasy football end may be near for Brian Westbrook.

The Bruno Boys are passing the Pepto Bottle with the QB Bust Rankings.  I would agree with most on a fantasy perspective.  For some reason I’m not ready to give up on Tony Romo though just because T.O. left town.

When drafting a Fantasy Football Defense you should know that they are not going to be “ON” every week.  Grabbing a D that has a decent week when your regular D is playing the Saints isn’t a bad idea and something that can give you an advantage over your opponents if they are not taking it into consideration.  FFToolbox has some nice pairings in their Defense by Committee.

Eric Huber at Rapid Draft gives some love to Steven Jackson.

Following the Football Docs Running Back Two Year Major Injury Rule you should be looking at Ronnie Brown to have a big season.

***If you are interested in playing in a Football Jabber Re-Draft league that drafts Aug 30th leave a comment.
