Alabama Football Recruiting: Predicting All the Recruits Who Will Sign on NSD

Marc TorrenceFeb 2, 2015

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — With national signing day closing in, Alabama is putting the finishing touches on a loaded 2015 class. There won’t be too much drama for the Crimson Tide, who already have 23 commitments.

Still, Alabama is after a few more top targets and could end up with a few more cherries on top of a class that currently ranks No. 1. A lot can happen between now and Wednesday afternoon.

Let’s look at each position and predict who will sign with Alabama on signing day.

Quarterback

1 of 9

Commits: Blake Barnett (5-star from Corona, California)

Remaining targets: None

This one is already signed, sealed and delivered. Barnett was one of seven early enrollees and is already on campus taking classes and gearing up for spring practice. Don’t count out the true freshman from Alabama’s quarterback battle.

Prediction: Blake Barnett

Running Back

2 of 9

Commits: Desherrius Flowers (4-star from Mobile, Alabama); Damien Harris (5-star from Berea, Kentucky)

Remaining targets: None

Alabama hopes Flowers and Harris can turn into the school’s next great running backs. Flowers is already on campus and hails from the same part of the state as T.J. Yeldon. Harris was a major get out of the state of Kentucky, committing to Alabama over the Wildcats. It’s hard to see Harris changing his mind soon after a major announcement.

Prediction: Desherrius Flowers, Damien Harris

Wide Receiver

3 of 9

Commits: Calvin Ridley (5-star from Pompano Beach, Florida)

Remaining targets: Terry Godwin (5-star from Hogansville, Georgia); Daylon Charlot (4-star from Patterson, Louisiana); K.J. Hill (4-star from North Little Rock, Arkansas)

There’s no question which position Alabama is making a late push for on national signing day. With only one commitment right now, Nick Saban is going after three more wide receivers to add a few more offensive weapons to his arsenal.

Godwin is currently committed to Georgia but hasn’t exactly shut down his recruitment. Charlot was at one time an Alabama commit but could opt to stay home and play for LSU. Hill would be a big get out of Arkansas.

Prediction: Calvin Ridley, K.J. Hill, Daylon Charlot

Tight End

4 of 9

Commits: Hale Hentges (4-star from Jefferson City, Missouri)

Remaining targets: None

It’ll only be a one-man class at tight end for Alabama this year. Hentges has remained solid to Alabama since his May commitment.

Prediction: Hale Hentges

Offensive Line

5 of 9

Commits: Dallas Warmack (4-star guard from Atlanta, Georgia); Brandon Kennedy (4-star guard from Wetumpka, Alabama); Lester Cotton (4-star guard from Tuscaloosa, Alabama); Richie Petitbon (4-star guard from Washington, D.C.); Matt Womack (3-star tackle from Senatobia, Mississippi)

Remaining targets: Drew Richmond (4-star tackle from Memphis, Tennessee)

A year after signing five offensive linemen, Alabama is once again showing its commitment to the offensive trenches. Warmack, brother of former All-American Chance Warmack, and Kennedy are already on campus, while the other three commits have been pledged for a while. Richmond is currently committed to Ole Miss, but Alabama is making a late push.

Prediction: Dallas Warmack, Brandon Kennedy, Lester Cotton, Richie Petitbon, Matt Womack

Defensive Line

6 of 9

Commits: Jonathan Taylor (3-star JUCO defensive tackle from Millen, Georgia); Daron Payne (5-star defensive tackle from Birmingham, Alabama); Mekhi Brown (4-star defensive end from Columbus, Georgia); Anfernee Jennings (4-star defensive end from Dadeville, Alabama); Christian Bell (3-star defensive end from Birmingham, Alabama)

Remaining targets: CeCe Jefferson (5-star defensive end from Glen Saint Mary, Florida)

Like on the offensive side, Alabama is loading up its defensive line once again. Taylor enrolled early, and his late signing drew plenty of criticism, as he was kicked off Georgia’s football team for allegedly choking and striking his girlfriend with a closed fist. Payne was a big commitment away from Auburn, while Brown was a steal from Georgia.

But all eyes will be on Jefferson, one of the country’s top uncommitted prospects, as he makes his decision on signing day. He tweeted Monday morning that he will decide between Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn and Florida, seemingly eliminating LSU.

Prediction: Jonathan Taylor, Daron Payne, Mekhi Brown, Anfernee Jennings, Christian Bell, CeCe Jefferson

Linebacker

7 of 9

Commits: Adonis Thomas (4-star outside linebacker from Lawrenceville, Georgia); Joshua McMillon (4-star outside linebacker from Memphis, Tennessee); Keaton Anderson (3-star outside linebacker from Florence, Alabama)

Remaining targets: None

There won’t be any drama for Alabama at this position. McMillon and Anderson have been committed since before the season started, and Thomas has all but shut down his recruitment since his December commitment.

Prediction: Adonis Thomas, Joshua McMillon, Keaton Anderson

Cornerback

8 of 9

Commits: Kendall Sheffield (5-star from Missouri City, Texas); Minkah Fitzpatrick (5-star from Jersey City, New Jersey)

Remaining targets: None

Alabama is loading up on top cornerbacks. A year after signing two 5-star cornerbacks, the Crimson Tide are poised to do the same in 2015. Help and depth are on the way for a secondary that struggled in 2014.

Prediction: Kendall Sheffield, Minkah Fitzpatrick

Safety

9 of 9

Commits: Deionte Thompson (4-star from Orange, Texas); Ronnie Harrison (4-star from Tallahassee, Florida); Shawn Burgess-Becker (4-star from Pompano Beach, Florida)

Remaining targets: None

There’s no doubt here, either. Thompson and Harrison are both already on campus, enrolling in January. Burgess-Becker has been committed since April and hasn’t shown any signs of wavering. Each will bring much-needed depth to a thin safety unit and could be in the mix for playing time as a freshman.

Prediction: Deionte Thompson, Ronnie Harrison, Shawn Burgess-Becker
