New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks: Live Seattle Score and Analysis

The New England Patriots' journey to Super Bowl XLIX was remarkably similar to that of the Seahawks.

Both teams had sluggish starts, with the Seahawks starting out 3-3 and the Patriots 2-2. Both teams seemed to be spurred on to success by losses to the Kansas City Chiefs: Seattle lost to Kansas City in Week 11 and have not lost since, while New England followed up a loss to the Chiefs in Week 4 with seven straight wins.

The Patriots controversially traded Logan Mankins, a key cog in their offense, to the Buccaneers. The Seahawks traded Percy Harvin.

Each team's quarterback and receivers were questioned, as well as their reigns of supremacy in general. Each dealt with injuries. Still, both teams ended the season atop their respective conferences with matching 12-4 records.

Once the playoffs rolled around, New England narrowly defeated longtime rivals the Baltimore Ravens, 35-31. The Patriots struggled a bit early, trailing by 14 points twice, but managed to make the comeback with the help of some trickery. The following week, they coasted to a 45-7 victory over the woefully unprepared Indianapolis Colts.

That last victory stood in stark contrast from the Seahawks' incredibly thrilling NFC Championship Game.

While running on the Colts and throwing against the Ravens is one thing, doing the same against arguably the best defense ever in the salary-cap era will not be easy for the Patriots. The Seahawks have made a living eating up star quarterbacks, and today Tom Brady is on the menu.

Still these two teams match up so well in so many areas that it will be tough to imagine this game turning into a blowout like last year's Super Bowl. On any given Sunday, you never know what's going to happen; that's why they play the game.
