Idina Menzel Super Bowl National Anthem 2015 Prop Odds, Time Prediction

Before the actual Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks kicks off, there are fans who will be ecstatic or miserable. That's because Sunday's big game is one of the few instances where you can win money from the national anthem. 

This year, Idina Menzel has the honor of performing the national anthem. She is best known for two things, having her name mispronounced by John Travolta and the voice behind "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen. Even if you don't watch animated movies, you have heard that song at least 2,000 times in the last year. 

In other words, fans understand that Menzel has the vocal ability to make this one of the most memorable openings in Super Bowl history. She also makes it difficult for those looking to place a wager on things, as this could go any number of directions.  

The answers may not be concrete, but this is a prediction business. Here is a look at the odds for Menzel's performance and an educated prediction for how long it will take to finish the national anthem.

You have to applaud the oddsmakers, as they know how to play the game as well as anyone. Menzel is no stranger to singing the national anthem on a big stage, as she previously performed at the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game last July. 

The clock on that video from MLB.com shows Menzel took 1 minute, 59 seconds to complete. Oddsmakers gave her two extra seconds for the Super Bowl, which is an eternity in music. 

However, when you think about what made Menzel famous, it doesn't seem likely those two seconds are going to be a problem. She's a professional singer on Broadway, which is about as boisterous a group of vocalists as there is in the world. 

On Broadway, you want to draw out the big notes to stir a reaction from the audience. Menzel is going to have more than 63,000 fans in attendance and a viewing audience over 100 million. Her adrenaline will be overflowing in this moment. 

Menzel jokingly told ABC News that she doesn't have any inside information about how long her performance will take:

Oh, I love it. If they’re talking about me at the Super Bowl, I like it! I can’t help them though because I haven’t timed it yet! But I’ve been promising some people, if they let me know, I can maybe, like, glance up at the clock and then hold the vibrato a little longer and try to work it out!

"

However, Dave Richard of CBS Sports claims that there was word about how long it took Menzel to perform the anthem in rehearsal:

Again, this just speaks to how good the oddsmakers are at setting lines that cause bettors to pull out their hair. One second in a rehearsal doesn't necessarily prove that Menzel will go over the line, though it does give me more confidence in the prediction. 

There's no way that Menzel will break Alicia Keys' record of 156.4 seconds (2 minutes, 36.4 seconds) in 2013, but she will get over the line set by oddsmakers.
