Is Money getting Patrick Kane out of Trouble?

GoucheAug 12, 2009

Chicago Blackhawks young superstar Patrick Kane will get an opportunity next week in court to explain his version of why he is pleading not guilty to Sunday’s ugly incident involving a taxi driver that resulted in the 20 year-old and his cousin being arrested and charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal mischief. Apparently a shaken Buffalo taxi driver told the story that the two assaulted him in his cab over the issue of 20 cents. The driver picked them up at roughly 4 a.m. from downtown and things turned ugly when the driver was short 20 cents for change. Right away according to the driver one held him while the second one began punching him in the face. While doing this one of them began yelling don’t you know who I am? You’re messing with the wrong people.  Kane who a year ago won the Calder Trophy for Rookie Of The Year not surprisingly pleaded not guilty to the charges. The good news for Kane, who is expected to still participate in the U.S. Men’s Hockey Orientation camp is that the lawyer for the cab driver believes that the event was all blown out of proportion and that things will get worked out. Kane is due in court next Monday August 17. Three days before this unfortunate incident took place Kane was at a Buffalo ice risk to lend moral support to Mayor Bryon Brown who made it official that funding will be used to improve the facility.
