Brock Lesnar: Who Can Topple The Beast?
It has been over a month since Brock Lesner’s defeat of #1 Heavyweight contender Frank Mir. Even still it leaves one to ponder..."who can topple the beast?"
I had high hopes for Mir leading up to that fight. He showed up in phenomenal condition, no doubt fully prepared for the challenge ahead, and for a fleeting moment it seemed he might get the job done. In the first round, after the exchange of a few well placed strikes and a sacrificial high knee, it appeared Brock was jarred.
The Behemoth then proceeded to nullify one of the sports premier jiu-jitsu practitioners, ultimately leading to a TKO win at 1:48 of the second round.
Mir is no heavyweight slouch. His striking has vastly improved and there is no question when it comes to his BJJ credentials. I can't think of anyone else in the division more qualified than Mir to crush the monster that is Brock Lesner...and still the beast had his way.
It is not my attempt to pull down Brock's shorts, firmly grasp his manhood, and swallow the f****r whole, but here I am doing just that. Why? Who can say for sure? But one fact is clear: Brockitis is spreading rapidly throughout the nation.
Even if no one wants to admit the fact, secretly we all hold a bit of fear when it comes to the current UFC champion.
Mine mainly rests in the fact that WWE is beloved mostly by D&D nerds and gym rat muscle heads. Brock was lord of that staged arena not too long ago. Then he transitioned to UFC to fight with real men...to clash with real fists...and he did it effortlessly—To me this is disturbing.
Sure he wrestled in college (2000 NCAA wrestling champ) and dazzled nerds with his WWE exploits, but how could this qualify him to take on the UFC heavyweight division... and destroy it?
Is he just that super athletic? Could he be the second coming of a very large and destructive Jesus? I know every man eventually loses in the sport of MMA…eventually. But as it stands right now I still wonder “who can topple the beast?”
