MVP Prediction: Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seattle Seahawks

His silence all week has befuddled the media, but Marshawn Lynch says enough with his game on the field. After compiling 1,673 total yards and a career-high 17 touchdowns in the regular season, Lynch carried the success into the playoffs.

With a receiving corps full of good wideouts—none truly great—the Seahawks have thrived on the ground. Russell Wilson serves as the explosive dual-threat quarterback while Lynch is the wrecking ball. Let's just say that no defense wants to face this tandem.

Doug Baldwin recently spoke about the Seahawks' plans for Lynch in the Super Bowl, via NFL Media PR:

On the other side stands a formidable running back in LeGarrette Blount. Following a short stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Blount returned to New England and rounded back into form.

In the AFC Championship Game, he rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns. However, the Pats don't lean as heavily on their rushing game. Evidence of that was Blount touching the rock just once in the divisional round.

Seattle provided a comparison of Lynch and Blount, along with a quote from Seahawks defensive tackle Kevin Williams:

Over his last seven postseason games, Lynch has scored seven touchdowns. There may be a tailback with a nose for the end zone on the other team, but no back is as consistent as Lynch.

While Blount will no doubt be a force for the Pats, Lynch is the best big-game back in the NFL. If and when the Seahawks need him to step up, Beast Mode will carry them to a victory. In the process, he will claim his first Super Bowl MVP along with the Lombardi Trophy.
