Strootman Eases Career Fears, Targets Pre-Season
Tuesday, March 3
Strootman responded to claims that his career is in danger by insisting he will be fit for the 2015-16 season. Ex-Roma doctor Mario Brozzi had cast doubt over the midfielder's long-term fitness, but Strootman hit back on Instagram:
"Contrary to reports in the media I am back in training and working hard on my comeback. Please don't believe people who have never seen me in their lives, but just follow the social pages of me and AS Roma where we will keep you updated on my progress. Just for the record, I'm right on schedule to be back when preseason starts.

'No way out' for Strootman, says Former Roma Doctor
Monday, Feb. 23
Former Roma doctor Brozzi suggested Strootman may fail to make a full recovery from his latest problem, per La Partita Perfetta on Gold TV (h/t Football Italia):
"My impression is that the surgery on Strootman's ligament did not go perfectly. I don't know what happened to his knee, but his Cyclops syndrome results from a problem in the ligament's position.
The cartilaginous damage is determined by the extensive deficit. Now, if this is the situation, I see no way out. But it's not up to me to say whether further surgery is needed.
"
Brozzi appears to suggest players are more likely to pick up lasting problems when surgery is performed away from the club.
"When I was in Rome, the only surgery we performed outside Trigoria was for [former striker Vincenzo] Montella, who went to Switzerland," he said, per Football Italia. "When everybody starts going away, it means that nobody's going to be cured anymore."
