Katy Perry Prop Bets
Opening Song
| "Firework" | 3-2 |
| "Roar" | 3-2 |
| "This Is How We Do" | 5-1 |
| "Dark Horse" | 12-1 |
| "E.T." | 12-1 |
| "Wide Awake" | 12-1 |
| "Waking Up in Vegas" | 20-1 |
Perry has a litany of hit songs at her disposal, and there is little doubt that she will perform several of them Sunday. She really needs to set a good tone, though, so choosing the right song to start off with will be vital.
"Firework" and "Roar" are currently installed as co-favorites, and that certainly makes sense. In addition to being two of her most popular songs, they are both fairly new and seem as though they would be a great fit for a sporting event.
Perry pointed to both of those songs as ideal anthems for what she is hoping to get across during her performance, according to The Associated Press (h/t Marissa Payne of The Washington Post):
"I'm all about female empowerment and uplifting people's spirits, and people finding their own voice with songs like 'Roar' and 'Firework,' so maybe there is no better person (for the show). Hopefully I can bring that incredible strength and empowerment to people through the performance.
"
Both "Firework" and "Roar" are very much on equal footing at this point, so it is essentially a coin flip when it comes to determining which one will come first. Since "Roar" is newer and a bit edgier, though, it figures to be the best bet.
Wardrobe
| Skirt or Dress | 4-5 |
| Pants (Below Knees) | 2-1 |
| Shorts (Above Knees) | 2-1 |
While Perry is well-known for her catchy music, it can be argued that she has gained even more acclaim for her unique sense of style. She seems to bring her best whenever she takes the stage, and there is little doubt that she has something special planned for the Super Bowl.
The odds-on favorite for her wardrobe is either a dress or skirt, which is understandable since those have been staples for her over the years. Bettors can also roll the dice on her wearing either shorts or pants.
Although Perry hasn't dropped any hints about what she'll wear, she has revealed that she won't be maintaining the same look throughout the performance, per E! Online (h/t Adele Chapin of Racked.com).
"On my real tour, the Prismatic World Tour, I have nine, 10 different costumes," Perry said. "So I would feel very bored if I didn't change my look at least once on the show."
What's important to note, however, is that the prop bet focuses solely on what she's wearing at the start of the show. The smart money is on a dress or skirt, but shorts may be worth taking a shot on since she'll be performing in a warm climate.
Hair Color
| Black or Brown | 2-1 |
| Pink or Red | 3-1 |
| Blue or Green | 3-1 |
| Blonde | 4-1 |
| Purple | 5-1 |
Of all the Perry-related prop bets, it can be argued that none is more difficult to predict than the color of her hair.
Although Perry is a natural blonde, she is best known for sporting raven-colored locks. With that said, she has never shied away from changing it up, even if that means something wild like pink, blue or anything in between.
No matter what color Perry's hair is for her Super Bowl halftime performance, it won't be particularly shocking. For those looking to get a leg up, though, here is the most recent photo of Perry's hair from Jan. 22, courtesy of her Instagram account:
Even that does nothing to sort things out, as her hair appears to be black with a hint of purple.
Black is the easy pick since it's the norm for Perry, but purple would be a solid long-shot pick, especially after seeing that Instagram picture.
