Puppy Bowl XI 2015: Everything You Need to Know About Annual Event
If you're the kind of person who enjoys the Super Bowl but would much rather the large, athletic men were actually small, adorable puppies, then Animal Planet has just the thing for you.
Puppy Bowl returns for its 11th year on Sunday, with more than 50 dogs in action as Team Fluff takes on Team Ruff. In addition to the lovable canines, the annual event comes complete with a human referee, a bird sideline reporter, a halftime show led by kitten and goat—not goat as in Greatest Of All Time; goat as an in the farm animal—cheerleaders.
Now that your interest is very obviously piqued, let's take a look at everything you need to know.

The Puppy Bowl is no longer an individual sport. Once an every-dog-for-itself kind of event, this year's game will split the pups into two teams with an actual scoreboard.
Scoring is the same as years previous. In order to score a touchdown, the dogs simply need to drag a chew toy across the goal line. It can be either goal line, because they are puppies and they are cute and they can pretty much do whatever they want.
There will actually be three Most Valuable Pups, as the game will be shown for 12 consecutive hours—obviously—and the first three airings will feature slightly different endings and MVPs.
If you think you know who will take home the vaunted award, you can participate in a fantasy football game. ESPN's Trey Wingo has a hilarious look at some of the dogs to keep an eye on, via ESPN's Adam Caplan:
A full list of all the participants can be found here. Mr. Fantastic, a 12-week-old Terrier mix, is my pick for MVP, but keep an eye on Panda, a dog that also looks like a cat:
Speaking of cats, the halftime show will be led by none other than—wait for it—Katty Furry.
“If you haven’t seen a cat perform a Katy Perry song, you will, and you will enjoy it. I can guarantee you it’s memorable,” Puppy Bowl referee Dan Schachner told The Washington Post's Marissa Payne.
Oddly enough, I have not seen a cat perform a Katy Perry song, and it's something I never knew I wanted to see so bad.
So, whether you're a dog or cat—or goat—person, Puppy Bowl XI has something for you.
