Kevin Youkilis's Selfish Decision to Charge The Mound Will Hurt
Kevin Youkils's selfish decision to charge the mound will cost the Boston Red Sox. This is a team that looked absolutely pathetic in their four game series against the New York Yankees.
Even more troubling for the Red Sox is the fact that the offense was nonexistent in that series managing two runs in four games.
So, the decision to charge the mound by Youkilis is questionable at best. Now, if the Red Sox were rolling then the decision might not have been that bad, but the Red Sox are not playing good baseball as of late.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
There are questions about the team's offense, and the Red Sox are going to be hurting for offense even more now that Youkilis is out of the lineup
Sure the offense got better once the Red Sox had a different opponent in the Detroit Tigers by scoring six runs. In fact, they have scored four times in five innings so far, but how will their offense do without one of their better hitters in the lineup?
The Red Sox are going to need a player to step up in Youkils's absence, and the question is going to be who? David Ortiz and J.D. Drew come to mind.
After the series with the Yankees, there were questions about the Red Sox even making the playoffs. With Youkilis charging the mind and ultimately being suspended, those questions will remain.
Right now, the Tampa Bay Rays are looking to leapfrog the Red Sox for the wildcard spot, and they have an excellent chance of that especially with the second most consistent player in the Red Sox lineup out of action.
Actually I take back the fact that the decision would be questionable at best. The decision to charge the mound, throw the batting helmet, and wrestle Porcello to the ground by Youkilis was moronic and selfish because there is no question that the Red Sox need him in the lineup.
Losing him even for a few games maybe the lift that the Rays need to take over the wildcard lead from the Red Sox.
There is another way to look at the situation though.
Maybe Youkilis's decision to charge the mound will wake the Red Sox up from the lull they've had that has seen the team go from on top of the AL East to the wildcard leader.
