Super Bowl Performers 2015: Prop Odds for Halftime Show, National Anthem

Ahead of the biggest game of the NFL season, not all of the focus is squarely on the matchup itself. The Super Bowl is about much more than the men playing on the field, it's also about the entertainment value.

One huge facet of this coming Sunday will be the national anthem and halftime performances. This year, Idina Menzel has been tabbed to open the big game, while Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz will steal the show in between halves.

But what fun would it be to simply watch these glorious performers when you can bet on both? That's exactly what has brought about the prop bets for several years now, and this season's crop of odds didn't disappoint.

Prop Odds Breakdown

When looking for a prop bet to dissect, typically the ones that make the most sense are the most promising. Therefore, trying to guess what song Perry will start with or what clothes she might wear seem a bit absurd.

However, trying to figure out the length of time that Menzel will sing seems a bit more predictable. With the game being played inside in Glendale, Arizona, it seems like an obvious guess that the "Let It Go" singer will over-sing this classic just a bit.

Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News offered his take on the over/under bet:

Along with the length of Menzel's performance, prop bettors can also take a gamble on her performance. The trained Broadway singer knows a thing or two about how to properly execute a difficult song, so this seems like another obvious decision.

For those planning to take the bait on the bet, Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post notes just how slim the chances are for the other bet to pay off:

As for Perry, her wild and sometimes extreme tactics make placing prop bets on her somewhat difficult.

During an interview with TV host Kevin Frazier, per Patriots.com, Perry said the show will be, "Larger than life, full of color, a touch of humor and incredible joy." Let's just say that black or brown hair color seems a bit tame for what Perry is promising.

Tack on the fact that she was recently sighted with purple hair, and it seems like going with a wild color will be closer to the truth. Regardless of what happens, these prop bets are entertaining, to say the least.
