LeGarrette Blount Reiterates Media Day Comments About Seahawks Defense

Mike ChiariJan 28, 2015

The statistics say that the Seattle Seahawks have the NFL's best defense, but New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount is showing no fear as he prepares to clash with them in Super Bowl XLIX.

When asked about Seattle's vaunted defense during Tuesday's Super Bowl Media Day, the 250-pound bruiser downplayed the dominance of that unit, according to Tim Booth of The Associated Press:

His brashness predictably raised a few eyebrows, but Blount didn't back down from the comments when the subject was brought up once again on Wednesday, per Kevin Duffy of MassLive.com:

Blount was dominant down the stretch last season for the Pats, but he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the offseason. Blount returned to New England after the Steelers released him, though, and he has once again provided a major boost to New England's running game.

The former University of Oregon star rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns in the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. Seattle ranked third against the run, first in total defense and first in scoring defense during the regular season, however.

Something has to give when the Patriots and Seahawks meet in the Super Bowl, and it is clear that Blount believes he can steamroll Seattle's stout defense.
