Super Bowl Odds 2015: Patriots vs. Seahawks Updated Props List After Media Day

NFL bettors who are accustomed to wagering on as many as 16 NFL games every week during the regular season would likely get bored by one single bet during the Super Bowl. Thankfully, there are hundreds of prop bets available for this year's big game that will test your knowledge on everything from Gatorade color to Katy Perry's wardrobe.

Super Bowl Prop Bets and Predictions

How long will it take Idina Menzel to sing the U.S. national anthem?

Over/Under two minutes, one second

Prediction: Under

Rob Perez of The Big Lead broke down this bet by looking to the recent past:

Everyone wants to bet the over because obnoxiously stretching out the National Anthem is really American. But, winners bet with their head—not their heart. We’re going UNDER. 1:34 for Kelly Clarkson in 2012, and 1:53 for the damn OPERA singer in 2014. Unless your name is Alicia Keys, hanging a number north of 2 minutes is a joke.

It's hard to argue with that logic. What's more, Idina Menzel already sang the national anthem at the MLB All-Star Game and didn't drag things out. Go with the under.

Will Idina Menzel forget or omit at least one word of the official U.S. national anthem?

Yes +400 (4-1)

No -600 (1-6) 

Prediction: No

Nerves will undoubtedly play a factor for Menzel, but she already sang the national anthem at a major sporting event once. That experience will carry her through.

How many times will "deflated balls" be referred to during the game?

Over/Under 2.5

Prediction: Over 

There is a reason you are sick of this story—it never goes away. It certainly won't go away during the Super Bowl broadcast, either.

Prediction: Sleeves cut 

Jordan Raanan of NJ.com noted that it is supposed to be 73 degrees and sunny in Arizona on Super Bowl Sunday. That type of weather will inspire the no-sleeve look from the New England Patriots head coach.

Which song will Katy Perry perform first at halftime?

Prediction: Dark Horse 

The No. 1 seeds from both the NFC and AFC are in the Super Bowl this year. There has to be some type of dark horse in this game.

What color will Katy Perry's hair be when she begins the halftime show?

Prediction: Blue/Green 

One of the main colors for the New England Patriots is blue while one of the main colors for the Seattle Seahawks is green. This seems to at least make some sense.

How many times will Gisele Bundchen be shown on TV?

Over/Under 1.5

Prediction: Over

As long as Gisele Bundchen is sitting in a seat/suite that is visible to the cameras, she will be shown.

Will it be mentioned that Pete Carroll was the last head coach of the Patriots?

Yes +110 (11-10)

No -150 (2-3)

Prediction: Yes

Any possible storyline for the Super Bowl is overanalyzed every single season. This one will be no different.

How many viewers will the game have?

Over/Under 113 million

Prediction: Over

The College Football Playoff National Championship just set a cable television record for ratings, which suggests that America is ready for championship-level football this season. A Super Bowl between two strong teams that are filled with superstars is sure to pack in the viewers.

What color will the Gatorade (or liquid) be that is dumped on the head coach of the winning Super Bowl team?

Orange 3-2

Yellow 5-2

Clear/Water 3-1

Red 15-2

Blue 15-2

Green 10-1

Prediction: Orange 

Three of the last five Super Bowl winners all dumped orange Gatorade on the coaches, including the Seahawks from a season ago. Look for the trend to continue.

What will Tom Brady (NE) do first?

Throw a TD pass -180 (5-9)

Throw an interception +150 (3-2)

Prediction: Throw a TD pass

For as incredible as the Seattle defense has been this season (first in scoring defense, first in total defense and first against the pass), it was only 18th in the NFL in interceptions (13). Plus, Tom Brady protects the ball and threw a measly nine picks this season.

Seahawks safety Earl Thomas discussed how difficult Brady is as an opponent, via Terry Blount of ESPN.com:

Tom understands the game so well. His pocket presence is smooth. He doesn't predetermine too much. He kind of flows with the game and that is why he has been so great. They are definitely dangerous.

"

Seattle's defense could very well win it the game, but Brady will find the end zone before he finds a defender's hands.

Coin toss

Prediction: Tails 

A coin toss is the example used in almost every statistics textbook when explaining how true 50-50 bets work. While the result of the coin toss is completely up in the air, ESPN Stats & Info noted that the coin toss winner has had some luck recently:

Will there be a safety in the game?

Yes (Safety) +550 (11-2)

No (Safety) -900 (1-9)

Prediction: No

This prop bet takes on much more significance this season after last year's game featured a safety with this Seahawks defense on the field against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. The cliche suggests that lightning doesn't strike twice, though, and that will be the case in the safety category.

What will be the first enforced penalty in the game?

Prediction: False Start 

It is hard to envision a scenario for NFL players that is more nerve-inducing than the first few plays of the Super Bowl with the eyes of the world watching. Those nerves will get to one of the offensive linemen and inspire an early jump before the snap.

Expect some of those same types of nerves among NFL viewers who bet on these outlandish props.
