Stuart Broad Apologises for Offence After Tweet About Minimum-Wage Earners

John GreelyJan 27, 2015

Professional athletes earn a lot of money. Stuart Broad, for instance, made over £1 million in 2011.

So perhaps it should come as no surprise that when said athletes tweet about minimum-wage earners with the hashtags #stay and #humble, there could be a backlash.

Broad found that out the hard way on Tuesday, tweeting: "I've heard if you earn minimum wage in England you're in the top 10 percent earners in the World. #stay #humble".

The post was met with swift and merciless derision before he deleted it.

Broad then clarified his intent and apologised for any offence caused.
