Cristiano Ronaldo the Subject of WWE Jokes After Cordoba Red Card

Cristiano Ronaldo picked a bad time to get sent off for kicking and punching a Cordoba player. 

Internet pranksters were only too delighted to link last weekend's incident to Sunday night's Royal Rumble and the fact that his ex-girlfriend, Irina Shayk, has been romantically linked with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, even though all indications are the Hercules co-stars are just friends.

The Rock made his long-awaited return to the WWE during Sunday night's Royal Rumble, helping Roman Reigns to his victory in the Rumble match.

Ronaldo, for his part, has already apologized for his uncharacteristic red card: 

According to the translation by Sky Sports, Ronaldo's tweet said, "I apologise to everyone and especially to Edimar for my thoughtless act in today's game."
