Sting is one step closer to wrestling his first-ever match in a WWE ring.

The company announced on Monday night that Triple H is issuing an open invitation to Sting to appear at Fast Lane on Feb. 22:

WWE has teased a Triple H-Sting match ever since the former WCW champion made his debut at Survivor Series and cost Team Authority its match against Team Cena.

Then, last week, Sting appeared again, interrupting yet another match involving The Authority's handpicked stars. He distracted Seth Rollins long enough for John Cena to pick up the win, which reinstated Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan and Ryback.

Triple H spoke about the situation with Michael Cole.

After WCW folded over a decade ago, many fans played fantasy booker, inserting Sting into WrestleMania matches with some of WWE's biggest stars.

Now, it appears he will finally make his WWE debut at the biggest show of the year.
