The Texas Rangers have thrust themselves right into wild card contention while the Cleveland Indians are going nowhere this season, but we feel that starter Aaron Laffey gives the Tribe the edge here.

The Indians have always been high on Laffey, and lately he has been showing why. He now has three Quality Starts in his last four outings, and he allowed just one unearned run and six hits in eight solid innings vs. the Minnesota Twins last Wednesday. That marked the second time in three starts that he went at least seven innings without allowing an earned run, and he is now facing a Texas lineup that is batting just .233 vs. southpaws on the road this season.

Now Dustin Nippert has actually looked good in four starts for the Rangers, but he is merely filling in for the injured Kevin Millwood and will most likely return to the bullpen after this start, where he is more valuable. He is facing a Cleveland lineup that has perked up nicely lately, hitting .289 as a team over the last 10 games while averaging a hearty 5.30 runs per game.

We look for the Indians to score more than enough runs off of a fill-in starter to give the suddenly hot Laffey all he needs to post another victory.
