Predicting Katy Perry’s Super Bowl Performance

There is a large contingent of football fans who simply don’t care about the halftime performances, but there is a way to make it interesting: bet on it!

Perry’s performance will keep the fans of her work entertained for a few minutes, but placing a wager on what she will wear, which song she will sing first and other prop bets will give non-fans a reason to invest their time.

Add in some reported tension that could spill over into the live show, and people are interested.

According to Life & Style Magazine, via Susan Johnson of HollywoodLife.com, Perry may be looking to take a shot at fellow pop singer Taylor Swift. The two women have been embroiled in a public feud for months, but there is talk that Perry will unleash her new song, "She’s So Creepy," as a veiled shot at her former friend.

The easiest bet to win will be how many times Perry will be mentioned before halftime. With the current over/under set at 1.5, bet the over with confidence. Announcers are well aware of promoting the sponsors of the show, and there is no doubt they will sell Perry hard.

Another interesting bet is which song she will perform first. Perry has taken over the airwaves in the United States with songs like "Firework" and "Roar," and those are the safest bets. Halftime performers usually start with a recognizable song to get the crowd hot, so placing a healthy wager on one of these songs would be the smart wager.

It’s a 50-50 shot between "Firework" and "Roar," but I’d ride with "Roar" due to recency bias.

The most exciting bet of the night will be on what color Perry’s hair will be when she begins the halftime show. Some novice gamblers will ride with the standard black/brown, but this is the chance to get adventurous. Perry has a long history of colorful hair, and letting it ride on one of the other betting options (pink/red 3-1, blue/green 3-1, blonde 4-1 or purple 5-1) is a smart investment.

To me, pink or red seems like the best option, and a 3-1 payout would be well worth a wager.

Regardless of whether you bet on the halftime show or not, many fans who don’t like pop music will be desperate to find a way to stay interested. Placing a few well-scouted bets on Perry’s performance is one way to make it fun.
