Phil Neville's 'I'd Two-Foot Him' Tomas Rosicky Comments Cause Uproar

Tomas Rosicky stole the show during Arsenal's 3-2 victory over Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

After the match, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praised the Czech midfielder for the way he plays the game.

However, former Manchester United and Everton star Phil Neville did not seem to be impressed by one moment Rosicky produced in the match.

Just before his goal in the game, Rosicky produced a "no-look" pass which seemed to upset Neville as he analysed the game during Match of the Day 2.

Neville said on the BBC programme, as per the Daily Mail:

"

If that was a training session and somebody did that I'd be first over there and I'd probably look to two-foot him or take him out of the game.

If somebody did that in training to me, winding me up, I would be straight in there. I'd smash them.

"

The comments immediately caused an online backlash with people condemning Neville for seemingly promoting the injury of a fellow pro.

"

Just seen what Phil Neville said about Rosicky, what an absolute disgrace to English football

@BBCSport My official complaint: Philip Neville should be sacked from @BBCMOTD for his shocking violent verbal assault on Rosicky! #sackhim

Appalling comment by Phil Neville on #MOTD about taking Rosicky out for a no-look-pass. What a plonker. This is what to teach kids? #motd2

Such was the heat on Neville that he felt the need to take to Twitter himself and clarify he was only joking.

"

The Rosicky "look one way pass the other" piece was tongue in cheek by someone who wasn't capable of doing such!!!

While others thought the whole furore was something over nothing.
