5 Teams in The NFL That Could Make a Run For the Playoffs This Year!

robert meyerAug 11, 2009

There are lots of teams that will be intersting to watch this year. This year will should have a really season of football. There will 5 teams this year that could get back in contention for the playoffs.

New Orleans Saints:

The Saints have not been the same team since they went to the NFC championship game 3 years ago. They went 7-9 the follwing season and went 8-8 the next season. The Saints just haven't been able to get the playoffs either the past two seasons. This year should be a lot different. The Saints are good enough to be a top notch contender in NFL. They have the offense for it. Their quarterback, Drew Brees played amazing last year. He passed over 5,000yds. Their defense has brought them down the last couple of years. This year the defense should be a lot better. They got a new defensive coordinator. He is a lot better than their old one. Also Marques Colston is looking for a bounce back year. He had a dissapointing year last year. His thumb was the cause for Colston not having a great season last year. He injured his thumb early in the season and it caused him not to play as he should. Look for the Saints to possibly win the division and go far in the playoffs.

Green Bay Packers:

The Packers had a dissapointing season last year and look to rebound after that 6-10 record last year. They did had an inexperienced quarterback last year Aaron Rodgers. He played well for his first NFL season as a starting quarterback. Rodgers should have an excellent season this year. He has two big weapons at wide receiver position, Donald Driver and Gregg Jennings. He also has an elite running back, Ryan Grant and also has a good defense to back him up. Look for the Packers to make some noise and possibly make a good run for the playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks:

The Seahawks had a horrible season last year. Their season was a complete failure. They had a lot of injuries to deal with last year. Their starting quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck had an injury early in the season, some other major defensive players went out for the season due to injury as well. This season should be a lot different. Matt hasselbeck is healthy and they have a new weapon at wide receiver, T.J. Houshmandzadeh. He was a wide receiver for the Bengals last year. The Seahawks should really challenge the Cardinals in the division this year and could make a  run in the playoffs.

Cincinnati Bengals:

The Bengals finshed horrible last year. They were 4-11-1 last year. They had lots of injuries to deal with last year as well. They had their starting quarterback, Carson Palmer go down early in the season and required season-ending surgery. Chad Johnson wasn't himself last year. He had his worst season of his career. However, with a healthy Carson Palmer and a focused Chad Johnson, the Bengals could be ready to make some noise in 2009. If their defense can play really well this season, the Bengals have a chance of making the playoffs. Watch out for the Bengals in 2009!

Jacksonville Jaguars:

The Jaguars are ready to make some thunder after a dissapointing 5-11 2008 season. The Jaguars had lots of injuries to deal with in 2008. Most of injuries were on the defensive side. Lots of second strings got play a lot in 2008 because the first strings got injured. Their running back Maurice-Jones Drew and Fred Taylor also had a bad year last year. In the offseason the Jaguars let go of Taylor and made Maurice-Jones Drew their starting running back. David Garrard is ready for a great season as well. The AFC east division is going to be one tough division this year!
