Daily Fantasy Hockey 2015: NHL DraftKings Studs and Duds for January 27
After a very successful All-Star Weekend, the NHL is back in action Tuesday night with 11 games on the docket. With so many games being played, there are a number of players available to choose, and for that reason, you need to make the most of your $50,000.
It is easy to go with a big name that is leading in certain categories, but digging through the pile of players will lead to great value and room to get the most bang for your buck.
With that in mind, here are the NHL DraftKings studs and duds for January 27.

Studs
Mike Ribeiro ($3,900)

Mike Ribeiro has had an amazing season for Nashville, and it is surprising that he has a price tag of $3,900. The Predators' top center has nine points in his last nine games, and he also has 39 points in 45 games on the season. The Predators took a chance on him this summer by signing him to a very cheap contract worth only $1.05 million, and he's been worth every penny thus far.
Tomas Tatar ($5,700)
To find one of the NHL's top goal scorers for under $6,000 is rare, and with that in mind, you should scoop up Tomas Tatar of the Detroit Red Wings.
Tatar has five points in his last three games and 21 goals on the season. Five of his goals have been scored over his last five games, so there's a good chance he will score at least one against the Florida Panthers.
Jakub Voracek ($6,600)
The fact that the NHL's leading scorer will only cost $6,600 is an amazing bargain when you consider Philadelphia is playing an Arizona Coyotes team in full tank mode. Voracek has 56 points in 48 games, and his points-per-game average of 1.17 is one of the highest in recent memory.
Voracek is coming off an amazing All-Star performance, and he is ready to continue his Art Ross campaign against a Coyotes squad that allows the second most goals per game in the NHL.
Mark Streit ($4,700)
You are not going to find a better value among defenders, and for that reason, Mark Streit of the Philadelphia Flyers is highlighted.
Streit is third in scoring among defenders with 34 points, and he has nine points in his last nine games. He's been an asset to the Flyers on the blue line and a player who is a steal at $4,700.
Duds
Alex Ovechkin $9,500

Alex Ovechkin has 27 goals and 43 points in 46 games, and he has the highest price tag of all players available for selection. Rick Nash of the New York Rangers has 28 goals and 43 points in two fewer games, but he only costs $7,200.
Ovechkin is a decent player and all, but it would be foolhardy to spend extra money when you don't have to. To be succinct, taking Ovie would be like buying rental car insurance. It is nice to have, but do you really need it? Ovie is hot right now, but he isn't worth the extra coin.
Eric Staal ($6,200)
Eric Staal is overpriced at $6,200 and a player whose cost is based more on name recognition than anything else. With a points-per-game average of 0.68, he is on pace for his worst season since entering the league as a rookie in 2003.
The Carolina Hurricanes have been a horrible team this season, but there is no reason why Staal shouldn't have more points at this point of the season.
Mark Giordano ($7,000)

Yes, Mark Giordano is leading the NHL in points by a defenseman, and he has four points in his last four games. Devoting $7,000 to him is a move that many could rationalize, but it doesn't make it right.
He is a big name and a leader in scoring, so he commands a high price. If you want to pick up offensive defenders, go ahead, but don't spend $7,000 on one when you can pick two (Streit and Sami Vatanen) within the top 15 for a total of $9,500.
