WWE Fast Lane 2015: Full Card Predictions After Royal Rumble
WWE Fast Lane 2015 follows another Royal Rumble where the fans booed the winning babyface.
That's not exactly the kind of momentum the company had to be hoping for as it pushes Roman Reigns toward the WrestleMania main event. Still, the show must go on. Rivalries have to be wrapped up; stars have to be built up for what WWE has in mind for them at WrestleMania.
Rusev and John Cena crossed paths after the Rumble, a sign of things to come for both men. Before that monster-versus-hero showdown, Rusev has a powerhouse to topple, and Cena has other business at hand.
What lies in store for fans on the first-ever Fast Lane? What went down at the Rumble, what storylines are still in progress what WWE has to accomplish before WrestleMania are the keys to figuring that out.
The Usos vs. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd (Tag Team Championship)
1 of 7Cesaro and Tyson Kidd rolled over a team that seemed destined to climb up the tag team rankings—The New Day.
In the weeks leading up to Fast Lane, those squads are likely to clash again. That's especially true considering that the heels used some underhanded tactics at the Royal Rumble.
The Usos retaining suggest that Cesaro and Kidd will only add to their momentum when The New Day gets a rematch.
That would allow for a heel-versus-face dynamic to play out. Jimmy and Jey Uso need a new feud after battling The Miz and Damien Mizdow for so long. In such a thin tag team division, Cesaro and Kidd are one of the only options to trade spots with The Miz and his stunt double.
Besides, The Miz and Mizdow won't be teaming up long after the latter disobeyed the former by refusing to let him enter the Rumble for him.
Rusev vs. Ryback (United States Championship)
2 of 7Ryback and Rusev have been heading for a collision for weeks.
The Big Guy earned his entry into the Royal Rumble be beating Rusev on the go-home SmackDown. Moments after Ryback entered that 30-man bout, he and The Bulgarian Brute were trading blows.
The confrontations faded from that point, each man focusing on other foes. That should change in the next few weeks.
Before Rusev heads to the contest WWE has planned for him at WrestleMania (which is looking more and more like it will be with Cena) expect him to knock off Ryback at Fast Lane. That story has to come to a conclusion and Ryback's count-out win on Thursday isn't that.
Nikki Bella vs. Paige (Divas Championship)
3 of 7Nikki Bella avoided a title defense at the Royal Rumble. She and her sister Brie both avoided facing Paige in the tag match.
The twins dominated, keeping Natalya in the ring and leaving Paige frustrated on the apron.
That could easily lead to a story about Paige claiming Nikki is afraid of her. Paige has been on the edge of contention lately anyway. It won't take much to have her semi-feud with Nikki morph into a full one.
WWE doesn't seem interested in showcasing Alicia Fox, Emma or other potential contenders. The spotlight has been centered on Natalya, The Bellas, Paige and, to a lesser extent, Naomi.
Expect that trend to continue, for the newest star of Total Divas to get a crack at the championship again.
Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins
4 of 7This match has to happen eventually, right?
Randy Orton has been out since November when Seth Rollins and The Authority put him out of action. There have been multiple opportunities to bring The Viper back for him to seek revenge, but WWE has not yet taken them.
That was too big of a feud to have end without a major showdown. Bringing Orton back will help Fast Lane feel more special, the pay-per-view acting as a welcome-back party.
Rollins failed to dethrone Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. With The Beast Incarnate now likely to hibernate until it gets closer to WrestleMania, Mr. Money in the Bank needs someone else to clash with. The man he Curb-Stomped onto the disabled list is the perfect person for the job.
Bray Wyatt vs. Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan
5 of 7WWE wants Bray Wyatt to be a man-destroying monster. That's been clear with him getting wins over Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan in recent weeks, but the company drove the point home at the Royal Rumble.
Wyatt dominated.
He tossed out six men (seven if you count unofficial-entrant Erick Rowan) and several times stood alone in the ring awaiting the next challenge. He also eliminated Bryan, a moment rich with power.
That has fans whispering about whether Wyatt is facing Undertaker at WrestleMania or at least a top-tier star.
Before that, he could continue the slugfest he and former members of the Wyatt Family had at the Rumble. That's a potentially impressive win if he leaves both men lying. It also makes use of the tension between this trio that hasn't been fully tapped yet.
John Cena vs. Kane vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus
6 of 7
This bout could be WWE's way of adjusting the WrestleMania main event. Last year, fan dissent led Daniel Bryan to the top of that show's card.
Judging by how Philadelphia fans welcomed Roman Reigns to the list of Royal Rumble winners, the company may need to go that route again.
A No. 1 contender's match allows Bryan to climb back into the title picture. This Fatal 4-Way is also an easy way to have the Rusev and Cena feud catch fire. Just have Rusev interfere and cost Cena his opportunity.
Post-heel turn, Sheamus can work for The Authority, at least on a temporary basis. That gives The Authority better odds of having someone from its ranks win. It's not clear when The Celtic Warrior is coming back, but his appearance on Raw recently hinted at him being close.
With this match, Cena's issues with The Authority get to play out more. The same goes for Bryan.
It's a solution to where to fit some of WWE's biggest stray puzzle pieces.
Roman Reigns vs. Big Show
7 of 7Roman Reigns' Royal Rumble victory came courtesy of him surviving a beating from Big Show and Kane, outlasting both those giants and later Rusev as well. That will not be the last time he faces The World's Largest Athlete.
The in-progress rivalry between Big Show and Reigns will continue at Fast Lane.
Reigns has a date with Brock Lesnar ahead of him. En route to that, he needs a definitive win against an established name. Having him finish out this story with Big Show before moving on to Lesnar accomplishes that.
Reigns must fell one giant before facing WWE's most fearsome beast.
