UCLA Football's 2015 National Signing Day Wish List

Kyle KensingJan 26, 2015

Following a 31-10 loss to Stanford to end the regular season on Nov. 28, UCLA head coach Jim Mora made it clear that the Bruins' road to a Pac-12 championship will be paved on the recruiting trail.

"We've got to continue to do what we're doing," Mora said. "We've got to continue to work at getting the types of players and coaching them the way they're supposed to be coached [to close] the gap [with the top of the conference."

Mora and his staff are putting together an impressive 2015 signing class, one that currently includes the nation's No. 1-ranked quarterback, Josh Rosen

But UCLA's work is far from over. The Bruins hit the final week before national signing day with a few more positions and players to cross off their wish list in pursuit of a strong finish to the 2015 recruiting season.

With 4-star tackle Andre James already in the fold, UCLA has the opportunity to put together an impressive offensive line for 2015.

The Bruins are pursuing 4-star guards Josh Wariboko of Casady School in Oklahoma City and Semisi Uluave of Punahou High School in Honolulu.

UCLA may be out of the running to sign Uluave. JC Shurburtt of 247Sports reported that Uluave will announce his commitment on national signing day, but Edward Lewis of Rivals noted that Uluave cancelled his official visit to UCLA, which was scheduled for last weekend.

However, the outlook for signing Wariboko might be sunnier, based on his Twitter account:

UCLA has been active in its recruitment of Wariboko for several months. Landing him to go with James would give the Bruins an impressive foundation up front for the future.

UCLA's recruiting emphasis on talent-rich Texas is paying dividends.

The Bruins landed Lone Star State prospect and 4-star wide receiver Ryan Newsome on Friday, and his commitment might just be the beginning of a westward exodus for Texas prospects.

Former Texas Tech commit Carlos Strickland could make for an exciting partner for Newsome in the Bruins' receiving corps, while 5-star running back Soso Jamabo could set up the pass with a devastating ball-carrying style, tying the future of UCLA's offense together nicely.

Jamabo's recruitment should be one of the more closely followed stories for the next week. Notre Dame is a contender alongside UCLA, but in an interview over the weekend, he suggested that some new contenders may have emerged, via Fox Sports' Teddy Mitrosilis:

Mora has to like UCLA's chances against that competition.

A Tight End

After losing 4-star tight end Aliz'e Jones, who decommitted earlier this month to pledge to Notre Dame, UCLA regrouped with its pursuit of 4-star Chris Clark

That particular venue could be home to plenty of big moments for the 6'6", 247-pound Clark. He offers the UCLA offense a dynamic it hasn't had since the departure of Joe Fauria after the 2012 season.

Clark will announce his decision on national signing day.

February 4th is about to be insane can't wait to make the biggest decision of my life with my boys by my side

Top-Two Pac-12 Finish

4 of 4

Mora and his staff have UCLA headed for another top-20 finish on the national recruiting scene, but the Bruins have slipped to third in the conference rankings.

Oregon surged slightly ahead in 247Sports' projections earlier this month.

While rival USC is likely too far ahead for the Bruins to become the Pac-12's highest-rated recruiting class, a No. 2 finish is well within reach, and climbing in the national standings could power UCLA into the top 15 nationally.

UCLA sits at No. 18 as of Jan. 26.
