Australian Open 2015 Results: Winners, Scores, Stats from Day 6 Singles Bracket
Top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams had to work hard, but both advanced to the fourth round in Day 6 action. Djokovic's matchup was extended to a tiebreaker in the first set against Fernando Verdasco, but he ultimately took command to win 7-6 (10-8), 6-3, 6-4.
He still hasn't dropped a set at this year's tournament.
Djokovic will now face Gilles Muller, who upset No. 19 John Isner in the third round. Djokovic is already thinking about his next opponent, per this quote captured by tennis journalist Carole Bouchard:
Ben Rothenberg of The New York Times gives us a glimpse at the men's round of 16.
On the women's side, Williams dropped the first set to No. 26 Elina Svitolina before cruising in the second and third and prevailing 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Williams committed 14 unforced errors in the first set but minimized the mishaps to close out Svitolina the rest of the way. Williams will now face No. 24 Garbine Muguruza in the fourth round. Rothenberg has a look at the women's round-of-16 bracket.
While no player should look past their next opponent, it might be hard for Williams not to think about her potential quarterfinal foe.

Unseeded Victoria Azarenka lurks and would presumably be Williams' opponent if both advance. Azarenka has a stiff test with No. 11 Dominika Cibulkova. If things fall into place correctly, it could be an explosive quarterfinal match.

Another Early Aussie Exit for Kvitova

While the two top seeds survived, one notable No. 4 bit the dust. The 2014 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova continues to be bedeviled by the Australian Open. Last year, she lost in the first round in Melbourne. This year, she exits the tournament in the third at the hands of American Madison Keys.
Keys won't turn 20 until next month, but her game looked full grown on Saturday. She beat Kvitova in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. Keys' berth in the fourth round represents the furthest she has advanced in a Grand Slam.
After the match, she was still trying to let her big win sink in.
Tennis great Lindsay Davenport has been working with Keys, and it appears the tutelage from the legend is helping. Keys gave it up for her mentor as well.
She will now face fellow American Madison Brengle in the fourth round. Thus far, the American contingent in Melbourne has performed well on the women's side. Counting Keys, four of the 16 remaining women are from the U.S.
