Patriots vs. Seahawks: Halftime, National Anthem Prop Bets for Super Bowl 2015

R. Cory SmithJan 23, 2015

The Super Bowl itself is always fun, but bettors get the most enjoyment out of prop bets. There is always plenty of money laid down for the actual game, but the national anthem and halftime shows draw some of the most exotic bets of all.

According to Odds Shark, money can be placed on everything from the amount of times "deflated balls" will be mentioned, to the color of Bill Belichick's hoodie. However, the most time-honored lines are always based around the actions before and in the middle of the game.

Idina Menzel is singing the National Anthem, while Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz will perform the halftime show. Prop bets have already been set for both Perry and Menzel, so let's take a look at the full list and some tips for the lines.

Prop Bet Tips

If I had to truly provide a tip, it would be don't burn money on a bet you can't back up with facts. Seeing as how Menzel and Perry have never been on this stage before, it's hard to predict what they'll do during the Super Bowl.

With all that said, let's take an in-depth look at these ridiculous odds.

Purely based on her background singing on Broadway and the song "Let It Go" from the film Frozen, it would appear she enjoys to overdo lyrics just a bit. No one is thinking she will go all Alicia Keys and belabor the point, but Menzel will likely go over the two-minute, one-second mark.

She also made it clear how happy she is to be singing on this stage, via Good Morning America:

Going back to her training in different types of singing, she is clearly a professional and will come more than prepared. Expecting Menzel to omit a word might be a pipe dream, so taking the under on the one-word omission seems like the better choice.

As for Perry, choosing her hair color or outfit of choice seems a bit absurd, but taking the over on her mentions in the first half makes sense. Fans might be a little nervous closing in on the half with her name not mentioned 1.5 times, but she will be a focal point right before the teams head to the locker room.

The song of choice to start out, on the other hand, will likely be an up-tempo anthem like "Roar" or "Dark Horse." With the popularity of both, it seems like a toss up between the two to start out the show. That, of course, means it will be "Wide Awake," throwing every bettor into a rage.

However, those upset about the money they burned during the halftime show will likely win a few prop bets that are more guaranteed. You know, like Marshawn Lynch grabbing his crotch after scoring a touchdown in the game—which is an actual thing.
