Testament To Tebow As Florida Ranked Number One In My Preseason Top 25

Ronnie BrownAug 10, 2009

  1. Florida     The Gators have the most speed and talent of any team in college football.  Coach Urban Meyer has this version of the spread offense custom built to suit the strengths of Tim Tebow just as he did with Alex Smith at Utah and Josh Davis at Bowling Green. Replacing Percy Harvin on offense will be tough but if anyone can reload talent, it's the Gators.  I absolutely love linebacker Brandon Spikes he should be a top 10 draft pick.  The SEC is tough but not tough enough to stop Florida who's only real threat will be LSU. ( Big Game ( Oct 10 @ LSU )
  2. Oklahoma - I fought for two months about who should be number two behind Florida and settled on the Sooners over the Texas Longhorns. Everyone knows Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford returns with his 50 touchdown throws but the Sooners will return the best backfield in Nation with Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray. The O-Line has lost some solid players but Oklahoma strikes me as the type of team that stockpiles talent. The Sooners have a tough schedule which includes opening up against BYU, playing at Kansas and closing against Oklahoma State.  ( Big Game of course it's the Red River shootout Oct.17th @ Texas).
  3. Texas - Given the name Colt McCoy it seems like McCoy was born to either be a sheriff or the quarterback for the Texas Longhorns. McCoy stepped into his own in 2008 and is my favorite to win the Heisman.  Returning is the college version of Wes Welker in Jordan Shipley who has a great chemistry with his quarterback. The defense was hit hard with the loss of Brian Orakpo and if Sergio Kindle's off the field problem gets bigger the offense will be forced to do more. ( Big Game... See Oklahoma )
  4. USC - The Trojans have never had a rebuilding year, and I don't expect this to be one, but 2009 will be the closest thing for Pete Carroll.  The defense loses a ton of talent to the NFL but they still have Taylor Mays who reminds me of Ronnie Lott.  While the defense may take some time to get their footing the offense will have to lean on the offense mainly stock pile of talent in the backfield, namely Joe McKnight.  The main focus will be at QB and who will be calling the shots.  If it's freshman Matt Barkley it maybe  the first year the Trojans are on the outside looking in at a BCS bowl. ( Big Game Oct.24 Oregon State... The Trojans play two OSU's this season they can afford to lose the 1st one, but after last season....)
  5. Ohio State - I had this spot all set and ready for Virginia Tech when I went position by position until i got to one.....quarterback. If Terrelle Pryor stays at Ohio state all four years he will win at least one Heisman Trophy.  All reports have Pryor's passing game coming around more this season.  If the Buckeyes young receiving core can play then that will leave a ton of room for Pryor, Daniel Boom Herron and Jaamal Berry to pick up where running back Chris Beanie Wells left off. The great linebackers for OSU go but the new strength will be the d-line led by Thaddeus Gibson.         ( Big Game Sept USC. The Buckeyes must once again fight for respect and revenge for the Big 10).
