Paulina Gretzky, Fiance Dustin Johnson Welcome Baby Boy
Paulina Gretzky and her fiance, PGA golfer Dustin Johnson, welcomed a baby boy into the world on Monday morning.
"Paulina and I are happy to announce the arrival of our baby boy, who was born in Los Angeles on Monday morning," Johnson said in a statement to E! News. "Both Paulina and the baby are healthy, resting comfortably and in great spirits."
He added, "We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received and plan to release further details in the coming days!"
The name of the child has not yet been revealed, though there's always the possibility that he follows the Gretzky tradition of giving the boys a name starting with the letter "T." Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, Paulina's father, named his three sons Tristan, Trevor and Ty.
The question now is whether Gretzky and Johnson's newborn son will be a standout hockey player, like his grandfather, or a star golfer like his father.
Things have been a bit rocky for Johnson of late, however. He has recently taken time off from his golfing career to focus on personal issues, which he told ESPN's Tom Rinaldi was his tendency to "drink to excess" but was never related to a cocaine problem.
He added that drugs "didn't really have a role in my life" and denied ever entering rehab, instead employing a life coach to help him deal with the pressures and rigors of his life.
He is expected to rejoin the PGA Tour shortly, though.
One way or another, Gretzky and Johnson's son seems destined to have a great swing. Whether it's a slapshot from the point or a drive from the green remains to be seen.
