Julian Edelman Says He Refuses to Buy Super Bowl Tickets for His Family

Dan CarsonJan 20, 2015

Stop calling Julian Edelman.

Do not text him. Do not attempt to slide into his DMs. He is not a ticket oak. He will not get you free passes to the big game.

The New England Patriots wide receiver has made it abundantly clear over the last two days whose business he’s concerned with as he and his team prepare to face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.

In a recent interview with CSN New England’s Phil Perry, Edelman outlined his simple plan for dealing with friends and family looking for the Super Bowl ticket hookup.

Simply put, Edelman said they can all go pound sand.

“I’m a pretty big a-hole to all my friends and family,” Edelman told Perry. “They know that. When it’s football time, it’s football time.”

Edelman added that it isn’t so much that he wants to be a jerk but that he refuses to play travel agent in order to maintain his usual routine, which he says is pivotal before games like the Super Bowl.

“I think you want to make the process as familiar as possible to what you’re used to by going out and preparing like you try to do every day,” Edelman said, via Perry. “Going in the hot tub, the cold tub, getting your treatment every day. It’s gonna be a little different. Usually the team that can handle that stuff the best is usually the team that comes out with a win.”

In other words, Edelman isn’t ignoring you to be mean, guys. He’s just streamlining. Be sure to pocket that wisdom for when you feel like staying in this weekend.
