Tony Snell Throws Errant Pass at David Blatt, Leads to Turtling

Dan CarsonJan 20, 2015

Monday night marked the evening things finally turned around for David Blatt.

J.R. Smith began doing good J.R. Smith things, Timofey Mozgov initiated space-heater mode, and not a single one of Blatt’s players hijacked a timeout or stuffed him unceremoniously into a locker.

Everything was coming up roses for the harried Cleveland Cavaliers head coach, with his team jelling into a multithreat unit as they undid the Joakim Noah-less Chicago Bulls 108-94.

It was a clean, dignity-restoring night for Blatt, save for one awkward and inexplicable moment late in the third quarter.

After surveying the defense, Bulls small forward Tony Snell dished a ball from the wing to a wide-open Blatt on the sideline. Blatt, unprepared and looking the other way, noticed the ball just in time to enter his turtle shell.

The Cavaliers head coach covered up quicker than a boxer in the corner:

It wasn’t a good look for either party, but Blatt received the worst of it for his George Michael-ish reaction:

No worries, Blatt. We’ve all done our share of turtling. Also, basketballs hurt. Ask Andray Blatche.
