Norwegian Liverpool Fans Name Their Daughter 'Karoline YNWA'

Sean FayJan 20, 2015

Naming a child after your favourite sports star is not that unusual, but after the club's song?

Well, five years ago, that's exactly what a couple in Norway did, as they decided to take the initials of the Liverpool standard "You'll Never Walk Alone" and make it their daughter's middle name.

It is the husband in the family that is the big Liverpool fan, but it was actually the mother who thought of the name.

The girl's mother, Eirin Isabell Iversen, is quoted by the Metro's Hannah Duncan as saying:

"

I’m probably not as interested in football [as her father] but it was actually my suggestion to call 'YNWA'. He suggested 'Gerrard', before we knew about it was a boy or girl.

It would hardly have worked so well for a girl, and I suggested 'YNWA'. The more we talked about it with the grandparents, the more it sank in, and we decided.

Her name is Karoline YNWA, we could not really force her to cheer on Liverpool. But she is very proud of its name.

"

We shall wait and see if she remains so proud in a couple years' time.
