Tiger Woods Loses a Tooth While Supporting Girlfriend Lindsey Vonn

Sean FayJan 19, 2015

Lindsey Vonn made skiing history in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, on Monday when she secured the 63rd World Cup victory of her career.

On hand to watch her landmark victory was her boyfriend, a certain Tiger Woods, although he tried to keep a low profile in a rather unique way.

The 14-time major winner decided to wear a skeleton mask to try to conceal his identity.

Vonn herself had no idea that Tiger was turning up at the event and told The Associated Press (via USA Today) about her special surprise.

"I didn't think this could get any better than yesterday with my entire family here but now with Tiger here this is unbelievable," said Vonn. "I said, 'I can't believe you came.' And he said, 'I told you.'"

We are not sure what Tiger's motivation was behind the choice of headgear, but he did remind us of someone.

Also worth noting is Woods' mouth. A photograph taken at the event shows the American pro appeared to be missing a front tooth.

It's likely Woods is in the process of having dental work done, but as of Monday morning there's been no word explaining the apparent absence of an incisor from his mouth.

UPDATE: Monday, January 19

ESPN.com reports that Woods' agent Mark Steinberg has cleared up the mystery regarding his client's missing tooth.

Steinberg released a statement claiming Woods' tooth was knocked out Monday by a cameraman near the award podium at the Alpine Skiing World Cup.

"During a crush of photographers at the awards' podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged towards the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth," Steinberg said in a statement released Monday. "Woods' tooth was knocked out by the incident."

UPDATE: Tuesday, January 20

"Toothgate" took another turn on Tuesday, as the secretary general of the race's organising committee denied that Woods' tooth was knocked out by a photographer.

"I was among those who escorted him from the tent to the snowmobile and there was no such incident," Colli told the Associated Press (h/t TMZ).

---End of Update---

In any case, in the meantime it appears Woods will be rocking a gap-toothed smile.
