Liverpool Transfer News: Radamel Falcao Rumours Emerge, Divock Origi Latest
Two Liverpool strikers found the net as the Reds beat Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, but they are still short of genuine quality up front.
It is unsurprising, therefore, that many rumours are circulating, linking the Anfield outfit to forward men, with the most recent reports suggesting they are eyeing a move for Manchester United's Monaco loanee, Radamel Falcao.
According to Duncan Castles in The Sunday Times, Liverpool—along with Arsenal and Manchester City—have enquired about the Colombian's availability, with a permanent switch to United seeming less likely as he has failed to nail down a first-team spot under Louis van Gaal.

The Independent's James Orr reports that United have been offered the opportunity to make Falcao's switch permanent for £43 million at the end of the season.
However, the 28-year-old has been often unconvincing so far this season, as B/R UK's Will Tidey suggests, and he could potentially be a transfer option for Brendan Rodgers in the summer:
He is a world-class striker and arguably simply needs a run in the team to prove his worth at United, as he has previously been phenomenal, especially in his time at Atletico Madrid and Porto.
Thus, if he does become available, Liverpool should definitely look to go in for him, as he represents a much more adequate replacement for the departed Luis Suarez than either Rickie Lambert or Mario Balotelli.
Elsewhere, rumours continue to swirl surrounding Liverpool's desire to recall 19-year-old Divock Origi from his loan deal at former club Lille.

Rodgers has recently confirmed that discussions between the two clubs have taken place, per BBC Sport, with reports suggesting Lille will demand £5 million—to add to the £10 million Liverpool paid for him in the summer—to release Origi early, per Chris Wheeler in the Daily Mail.
Alan Nixon in The Sun is now reporting that should Origi return to Anfield this month, summer signing Lambert will be allowed to leave.
Rodgers has made it clear that the former Southampton man has a role to play at Liverpool but only from the bench, and Lambert may wish to move on, with West Brom and Crystal Palace reportedly interested, per Neil Moxley in the Mirror.
Indeed, Lambert may do well to depart Anfield despite having secured his dream move to Liverpool only in the summer, as he is good enough to warrant a starting place in a Premier League side.
However, it would seem inadvisable for the Reds to engineer a situation in which Lambert would be allowed to leave, not least because recalling Origi early seems a rash move considering his underwhelming scoring record in Ligue 1 this season and his inexperience, per Sport Witness:
Despite a miserable start to the season, the Reds are on the way up, having not lost in the league in six matches, and they now sit eighth, only five points from the top four.
There is quality enough in their squad to challenge for the Champions League spots, and making significant transfer moves in January would likely be largely wasteful considering the lack of value on offer in the new-year window.
Rodgers needs to have faith in the players he currently has at his disposal and prepare to make sensible, effective signings when the summer rolls around.
