Its Time For Jim Hendry To Go
Whoever and whenever Mr.Selig, Commissioner of Major League Baseball deems to be the new owners of the Chicago Cubs, their first order of business should be to fire G.M. Jim Hendry and maybe even Lou Pinella, Mgr of the Cubs.I believe the Mgr's job should be left up to the new G.M.Getting Aaron Miles, Ryan Freel, letting Mark DeRosa go for 3 minor league pitchers, trading Jason Marquis to the Rockies to clear space to sign Mark Bradley, I could go on here and this was this past off-season only.Oh, and not re-signing Kerry Wood, who yes, is having a bad year on a very bad Indian's team might seem like the right move, but was it?.Wood could very well have had a great year in Chicago pitching for a contending team like he thought he was going to in Cleveland.I thought you added to a team that won 2 Division Titles in a row, something that had not happened since the early to mid 1900's.Bobby Abreu, Raul Ibanez, both just what the Cubs could have had and needed, Hendry passed on.He wanted Bradley, and ended up paying him far more than he was worth, and for far more than either Abreu or Ibanez signed for. What was wrong with re-signing Jim Edmonds, who did a fine job for the Cubs last season?Oh, the Cubs sure could use Jason Marquis now, Now at the trade deadline he has traded Kevin Hart, a pitcher who won his first 3 starts in a row for 2 pitchers from the Pirates that all Cub fans hope will do the job.Meantime Jake Peavy has been traded to crosstown rival's, the White Sox, What happened?, all winter Cub fans heard Mr.Hendry was working hard at getting Peavy, after Peavy told the Sox no after the season began, you would have thought Hendry could pull the deal off, but no, the Sox get him instead.Again Hendry does not do his job which is improve the ball club, and time and time again he has failed at this. After passing on re-signing a proven leader in the clubhouse, and trading 2 other leaders in that clubhouse, Mr.Hendry signs a known troublemaker to a big contract and puts him in the clubhouse where he has been a troublemaker this season. The Cubs had a good contending team, you are supposed to add to a good team, not subtract from it, and that is what Mr. Hendry has done since the end of last season, and this is why he has to go.
