Edimar Forgives Cristiano Ronaldo After Red Card During Real Madrid vs. Cordoba
Edimar, the Cordoba player on the receiving end of Cristiano Ronaldo's frustration during Real Madrid's La Liga clash, has insisted that the Ballon d'Or winner should only receive a normal suspension.
If Ronaldo's red-card offence is interpreted as violent, then he could face three games out, but in an interview with AS, Edimar said he hoped that would not happen:

"It was a play in which Cristiano was a little hot-headed and a little frustrated because things were not going well. But it is something that can happen to any of us. I think it happened, and that’s it. I forgive Cristiano Ronaldo. I hold no grudge. ...
Cristiano should receive a normal suspension, nothing more. I don’t want to hurt him and I hope that he remains the best player in the world.
"
Ronaldo has apologised on social media (Spanish), although in the interview Edimar adds that Ronaldo had not spoken directly to him:
"Pido disculpas a todos y especialmente a Edimar por mi acto irreflexivo en el partido de hoy.
— Cristiano Ronaldo (@Cristiano) January 24, 2015"
Despite the 84th-minute red card, Real Madrid won the match 2-1, thanks to a late penalty converted by Gareth Bale.
Ronaldo can expect to find out his fate during the course of the week.
