Barcelona Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of January 19

Jason PettigroveJan 18, 2015

Considering the FIFA-imposed transfer ban, Barcelona enter the penultimate week of the transfer window still in good health, and with no players having jumped ship as of this point.

Given their perilous present state, in which the club appears intent on imploding, it's quite the feat to be still pushing ahead and cutting straight through the nonsense.

There's still time for players to move on, of course, so let's take a look at which staff have been rumoured to be on the lookout for pastures new.

Remember to keep checking back throughout the week for updates.

Last update: Tuesday January 20—

Dani Alves is "weighing up his options" according to Ben Hayward of Goal.com.

Still not in receipt of a new contract offer despite his current one expiring in just a few months, the Brazilian is keeping his options open.

His agent Dinorah Santa Ana told Goal:

"

We would like to stay here but we will see.

Dani is a professional and he will give his all until June 30th. He is definitely staying until then. After that? It's up in the air

A deal for Lionel Messi to Manchester United could be financed by Adidas.

Although the Lionel Messi rumours appeared to have quietened down recently, they've now been reignited by news that Adidas may have some part to play in a transfer to Manchester United.

Per Metro via the Irish Independent, it seems United's new kit manufacturer, and Messi's sponsor, may well look to join the two together in a £200 million deal:

"

Adidas sponsor Messi and the manufacturer will be United's shirt supplier next season, and The Metro reports that they want to bring the two together.

Adidas could supposedly give United extra money to help them pay Messi's £200m release clause, while other cash might be given to pay wages.

Dani Alves could be leaving Barca.

Barcelona appear to have given the biggest hint yet that Dani Alves could be on his way out of the club.

Despite only having Martin Montoya and Douglas for cover at this point, the Catalans don't seem particularly forthcoming in offering Alves a new contract.

According to News Corp Australia (via Fox Sports), club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has left things a little open-ended, telling Catalunya Radio:

"

What concerns us now is that he plays and contributes to the team. What is to come, will come. We never explain what we do on the issue of contracts.

If it is done, it will be done discretely, like always.

"

"If it is done" should be replaced by "when it is done." Quite clearly, Barcelona need Dani Alves as much as he needs them.

The report goes on to say that Manchester United are interested in taking the Brazilian at the end of the season.

West Ham are confident of securing Alex Song's signature.

Finally given the chance to show what he can do, Alex Song has gone about showing Barcelona exactly what they're missing in the best possible way.

One of West Ham's players of the season so far, Song's contributions have helped the Hammers climb to the giddy heights of the European places.

It's only right that the east Londoners would want to keep hold of the player.

Sam Allardyce told The Sun (via Subhankar Mondal of Here Is The City):

"

There are a considerable amount of funds available next season.

[...] It depends what Barcelona are looking for and what Alex is looking for and those negotiations will happen in and around that period.
