Trent Edwards Facing Important Year with Buffalo Bills

Kevin LatackiAug 9, 2009

With the 92nd overall pick in the 2007 draft, the Buffalo Bills select.... Trent Edwards

Not many people thought he would start in his rookie year, while others had hoped he would. When J.P. Losman went down with a knee injury (in which Vince Wilfork had been fined for sticking his elbow out), people were wondering how Edwards would perform.  The Bills lost the game against the Pats, but Edwards played OK.

In his rookie season, Trent Edwards finished with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Buffalo Bills fans had high hopes for Edwards in his second year in 2008. With Edwards showing promise in his rookie season, everyone was thinking he would continue to improve.

In the 2008 season, the Bills started 4-0 and Edwards began to be associated with the Pro Bowl and the MVP award.  Yet after the concussion he received in the game against the Cardinals, his play dropped off significantly.

The Bills finished the season 7-9,  and Edwards posted 11 TDs to 10 INTs.

Now with a new season, a new offensive line, and a new playmaker, will Edwards be able to show the Bills’ front office and Bills fans that he is a capable starting quarterback?

Now with Terrell Owens, will Edwards be able to post better statistics? Or how about a better win-loss ratio? And will he be able to get the ball to his weapons?

Whatever the outcome is, this will be the year for Edwards.

The year that he shows everyone he is not what we hoped for, or the year that he shows he deserves a new contract.
