Boston Red Sox Slugger David Ortiz and His Turn to Be Questioned
As all of you reading this may already know, David Ortiz is the new superstar of the MLB to be questioned by the league for using performance-enhancing drugs. He tested positive for these drugs in 2003, along with 96 other players. But, of course, Ortiz denies using any type of steroids.
Ortiz addressed the issue yesterday before the Red Sox and New York Yankees played. He repeatedly denied use of steroids. Now, we all wonder the same thing everytime a big name gets leaked out in one of these reports. This thing is, "What will the excuse be?" Ortiz's excuse was that he was careless receiving many legal vitamins and supplements over the counter. Never heard this one before right? This might be the most used excuse in these situations. So, that's a hint that he might be lying to save his career as "Big Papi."

Also, Ortiz is upset that this list that was put together in 2003 was published into the public. His opinion on this is, "I don't think that I would really like to see another player going through what I've been through this past week." Well, no one does if they are in the news for testing positive. I mean, thanks captain obvious. This is also another reason for me to believe that he is lying to the media.
Now, I will bring up some statistics that make more reason to believe Ortiz has been "juicing up." Ortiz hit a total of 58 homeruns in his six years for Minnesota. He hit more than half of that with 31 in his first year on the Red Sox, which was 2003. These home run numbers increased until the 2007 season, which is ironic because that is when performance-enhancing drugs testing became a huge issue. Another reason they went down was injuries. It is proven that when you stop using steroids that your joints wear down. This is what happened to Ortiz. Also, his batting average and RBI went up from 2003 until 2007.
This, to me, is easy. In my opinion, David Ortiz took steroids with out a doubt. There was notable physical and statistical change in "Big Papi." Also, if you listened to the press conference he held, you can tell he was told what to say by the use of words and the way he said it. Now, all we can do is wait.
