2015 Houston Marathon Preview

The Houston Marathon began in 1972 and is a staple of many runners' schedules due to the race being a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
With the number of runners capped at 25,000 and both the full marathon and the half marathon run on the same course at the same time, the event offers spectators willing to line the streets one of the most unique opportunities they’ll find in Houston each year.
The official Twitter account of the Houston Marathon shared some of the best spots to watch the race:
Those watching from the streets of Houston, on television or via the live stream will see some of the greatest competitors in the sport today, including back-to-back defending men's champion Bazu Worku of Ethiopia.
Race Director Brant Kotch said the following about the depth of both the full marathon and the half marathon, per The Liberty County Vindicator:
"Three of our four 2014 champions are returning in 2015, although one has switched from the half marathon to the marathon. Our professional fields for the marathon are particularly well-stocked with runners who have had promising debuts and other quality results, and we think they're ready to step up and deliver some really stellar performances on our stage. The fields in the USA Half Marathon Championships are deeper than ever, even with intentionally heightened entry standards. We think everyone is ready to put on a first-class show.
"
For those looking for a little extra motivation before the big day, the Houston Marathon’s Twitter account shared a word of inspiration for runners:
One of the biggest stories for every marathon is the weather. According to Weather.com, the conditions will be ideal Sunday. With partly cloudy skies, low humidity and temperatures in the mid-40s when the race begins, runners should thrive in these conditions.
Whether you know someone in the race, have been to Houston and want to see runners tear up the course, or just love marathons, you won’t want to miss the 2015 edition of the annual Chevron Houston Marathon.
