Georges St-Pierre Not Currently Planning UFC Return, According to Manager

Steven RondinaJan 15, 2015

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is a busy man these days, even without "enjoying" the daily rigors of professional fighting. His schedule is currently booked up with movie deals and a nightclub world tour...and according to his manager, it is going to stay that way for at least a good while.

Speaking with MMAJunkie.com's Steve Marrocco, Rodolphe Beaulieu minced no words in saying St-Pierre's immediate future does not involve cage fighting. "There is no plan for 2015," he said. "We are working on a few projects but nothing related for him coming back in the Octagon."

The news stinks for MMA fans, but is not surprising. While UFC President Dana White has long been bullish regarding the likelihood of a return to the Octagon for GSP and joined UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta to meet with St-Pierre in Montreal last year, nary an interview has gone by without the possible greatest of all time expressing his happiness outside athletic endeavors.

That said, Rush has been spotted many times over by observant fans. St-Pierre famously had a speaking role in the Marvel motion picture Captain America: The Winter Soldier as classic villain Batroc the Leaper and has more recently signed on to join the cast of the upcoming remake of Kickboxer alongside Gina Carano and pro wrestler David Bautista (better known as WWE superstar Batista).

When he isn't scoring work in Hollywood, he has been regularly spotted at nightclubs all over the world (or not!).

From a competitive standpoint, the UFC's welterweight division has remained one of the promotion's best and is brimming with contenders, even without St-Pierre. However, his absence has been a hard shot to the UFC's bottom line, as the promotion has struggled to find someone to replace him in terms of drawing power.

Of course, more than a few fighters have come out of retirement for one last run at glory. What say you, fight fans? Will St-Pierre ever return?
