Randy Foye Trade Rumors: Latest Buzz, Speculation Surrounding Nuggets Star
The Denver Nuggets have been working to revamp their roster after an often frustrating first half of the season. Backup guard Randy Foye reportedly may be the next player on the way out.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports the veteran is one of the players the Nuggets are discussing with other teams following a swap with the Boston Celtics that included Nate Robinson and Jameer Nelson:
"This is the second trade the Nuggets have executed in the last week as they begin to retool their roster. The Nuggets are involved in trade talks for other players including Arron Afflalo and Randy Foye, according to sources.
"
Foye may need to return from injury and rebuild some value before Denver is able to move him, though. His numbers are down across the board this season. He's averaging just eight points and two assists while shooting below 40 percent from the floor in 11 games.
The Villanova product has been sidelined since late November due to a quadriceps injury. He returned to practice earlier this week and told Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post that he felt good after the first real test of the ailment.
"This is my first day participating in any kind of contact where Kenneth (Faried) is running into me, JJ (Hickson) and them guys are banging me," Foye said. "This is the first day that I jumped into the fire. It felt good. It's something that I've been away from for a while, and I was just excited."
It's probably going to take some time before he's all the way back into peak game fitness. The type of teams that would likely be interested in him are contenders. So they would want to make sure he's ready for the stretch run.
If Foye is healthy, he could represent an intriguing asset to a team looking to bolster its depth. He excels from behind the arc, making him somebody who can provide an offensive spark off the bench come playoff time.
